With EastCoast CAD you use you’re piping specifications and HVAC duct construction standards, directly in AutoCAD MEP. You can import any Revit drawings for automatic conversion to your pipe and ductwork construction standards. Any user, experienced in MEP, will easily pick up all of the faculties of EastCoast’s Design to Fabrication workflow and tools. This a great advantage in detailing productivity and resource allocation: Once a Detailer knows one solution set, they know it in both domains.
Work with real data.
EastCoast enables real manufacturers‘ content to be modeled by contractors with construction and fabrication levels of development to LOD 400 & 500* to build and fabricate project components for MEP systems including pipe joints, actual cut lengths, fittings, and flanges. You design with real manufacturer content and have complete control over the detail, manufacturer specifications and shop standards needed to create and fabricate MEP systems. In this way, accurate coordination and construction documentation is produced using the actual 3D geometry of the part.
The system uses an open standards
Microsoft SQL database, so that you are not locked into a proprietary database or forced to use just the tools that we produce. We’ve engaged in a de-facto standard (like ‘Kleenex’, as a brand) relational database from Microsoft called SQL Server. This database is not only a known commodity in the world of database management, with volumes of capable consultants in every town and city throughout North America, it is also industry-hardened, and is extensible. It can easily grow to whatever size or set of needs an organization requires. It is not difficult to get resources, or find expertise to work with it.
In EC, our software uses native MEP objects, which means you can take an EastCoast-based drawing and give it to another partner in the building process, another trade like the general contractor, engineer, or architect, and all they need is AutoCAD MEP to see all of it, including all the intelligent object data for scheduling, building a BOM (bill of materials). It is all visible and editable and can be reported on. That is the core of BIM. Its basic tenet is that you should be able to generate and report on the model throughout the lifecycle of the project. Our software brings your MEP sheet metal and mechanical data to that model so that we can extend the model – ‘pump in’ more information related to our domains - and then we can report on it and manage it from that point further. No drawing viewers are needed.

Work with automatic support systems.
Included with EastCoast is the ability to automatically add hanger supports along an entire gravity or pressure pipe or duct runs. Trapeze, Clevis, and Roller hangers. These hangers are true to size and can optionally include a circle of influence to the anchor location to assist with coordination. You have complete control over the offsets and spacing, and the ability to specify additional details regarding their installation, such as the upper attachment type, vibration, or seismic braces. Because the hangers are native objects, they can be scheduled just like EastCoast pipe and duct.
Work with automatic spooling.
EastCoast includes spooling for AutoCAD MEP allowing prefabrication of piping and plumbing to LOD 400, suitable for fabricating isometric spools directly in AutoCAD MEP. EastCoast is the easiest way to model systems in AutoCAD MEP and divide them into pre-fab modules for fastest on-site installation.
Generating a spool drawing is a one step process which applies tags and BOM schedules automatically. Also, automatically adding end to end dimensions to all the pipe or duct in the spool is another one step command. Should a spool need to be modified, all it takes is an update to refresh command the detail and schedules – you do not need to start over. To verify spool content, track your spools in your source drawing using a color-coded legend.
