Work in a familiar AutoCAD environment.

With EastCoast CAD you use you’re piping specifications and HVAC duct construction standards, directly in AutoCAD MEP. You can import any Revit drawings for automatic conversion to your pipe and ductwork construction standards. EastCoast prides itself in the ease of use with our software, and in staying up to date with technology. Any user, experienced in MEP, will easily pick up all of the faculties of EastCoast’s Design to Fabrication workflow and tools. Add to that the ease of which one can move from each of the trades within the AutoCAD MEP platform. You get TWO (HVAC and Mechanical) with our solution. This a great advantage in detailing productivity and resource allocation: Once a Detailer knows one solution set, they know it in both domains.

Work with real data.

EastCoast enables real manufacturers‘  content to be modeled by contractors with construction and fabrication levels of development to LOD 400 & 500* to build and fabricate project components for MEP systems including pipe joints, actual cut lengths, fittings, and flanges. You design with real manufacturer content and have complete control over the detail, manufacturer specifications and shop standards needed to create and fabricate MEP systems. In this way, accurate coordination and construction documentation is produced using the actual 3D geometry of the part.

The system uses an open standards

Microsoft SQL database, so that you are not locked into a proprietary database or forced to use just the tools that we produce. We’ve engaged in a de-facto standard (like ‘Kleenex’, as a brand) relational database from Microsoft called SQL Server. This database is not only a known commodity in the world of database management, with volumes of capable consultants in every town and city throughout North America, it is also industry-hardened, and is extensible. It can easily grow to whatever size or set of needs an organization requires. It is not difficult to get resources, or find expertise to work with it.

In EC, our software uses native MEP objects, which means you can take an EastCoast-based drawing and give it to another partner in the building process, another trade like the general contractor, engineer, or architect, and all they need is AutoCAD MEP to see all of it, including all the intelligent object data for scheduling, building a BOM (bill of materials).  It is all visible and editable and can be reported on. That is the core of BIM. Its basic tenet is that you should be able to generate and report on the model throughout the lifecycle of the project. Our software brings your MEP sheet metal and mechanical data to that model so that we can extend the model – ‘pump in’ more information related to our domains - and then we can report on it and manage it from that point further. No drawing viewers are needed.

New technology and features sets are regularly provided to subscription customers. There is no additional charges for new manufacturer content - we continually bring out new content as part of our overall subscription service.

Work with automatic support systems.

Included with EastCoast is the ability to automatically add hanger supports along an entire gravity or pressure pipe or duct runs. Trapeze, Clevis, and Roller hangers. These hangers are true to size and can optionally include a circle of influence to the anchor location to assist with coordination. You have complete control over the offsets and spacing, and the ability to specify additional details regarding their installation, such as the upper attachment type, vibration, or seismic braces. Because the hangers are native objects, they can be scheduled just like EastCoast pipe and duct.

Work with automatic spooling.

EastCoast includes spooling for AutoCAD MEP allowing prefabrication of piping and plumbing to LOD 400, suitable for fabricating isometric spools directly in AutoCAD MEP. EastCoast is the easiest way to model systems in AutoCAD MEP and divide them into pre-fab modules for fastest on-site installation.
Generating a spool drawing is a one step process which applies tags and BOM schedules automatically. Also, automatically adding end to end dimensions to all the pipe or duct in the spool is another one step command. Should a spool need to be modified, all it takes is an update to refresh command the detail and schedules – you do not need to start over. To verify spool content, track your spools in your source drawing using a color-coded legend.

Work with cost estimating & automatic takeoff software.
QuoteExpress makes BIM labor hour and material costing faster, easier, and more accurate. Estimators can create comprehensive project data that combine important information from building information modeling (BIM) tools such as Revit® MEP, and AutoCAD MEP software together with industry standard labor hours and material costs from your estimating software database.

Automated quantity takeoff.
Perform a takeoff on an entire BIM project in just minutes through integration of model HVAC and mechanical design data. More efficient than manual takeoff—QuoteExpress supports the takeoff of all Pipe, Valves, Fittings, Ductwork, Dampers, Grills, Equipment, and Specialties. Incorporate your unique specifications, labor discounts and standard material multipliers automatically.

A project is more than a sum of its parts.

Perform comprehensive labor and material data analysis of your BIM model for discounting and markup purposes. Include project overhead, markup, permits, fees, supervision, detailing labor, G & A, consumables, equipment, rentals, etc. QuoteExpress has enhanced flexibility to calculate your actual job costs, which are overlooked in integrated AutoCAD and REVIT databases.

Share, query, and clarify.

Generate quantities linked to specific objects. Mark up and “round-trip” your comments back into you model on a project, zone, or item by item basis. Automatically measure pipe, duct and count building components, export to Microsoft® Excel®, and publish to BIM project management solutions.

*LOD 400 - This level of development is considered to be suitable for spooling, fabrication and assembly.
*LOD 500 - Represents the project as it has been constructed including as-built conditions. LOD 500 models will include completed parameters and attributes specified in the owners BIM deliverable specification.

EastCoast CAD/CAM Design to Fabrication Version 6 provides HVAC, piping and plumbing contactors with the most efficient comprehensive and easy-to-use CAD & BIM software available. Implement the Design to Fabrication solution to see significant reduction in existing detailing costs and schedules. Your team will have the advantage of contractor domain-specific detailing tools and real manufacturer content at the right time and in the right MEP platform in your building construction workflow.

Tagging and Reporting.
Automated routines for tagging and pre-set schedules and tags provide immediate productivity from the first day the software is installed. Because the system uses standard AutoCAD functionality to build them, the customization of tags and schedules is a straightforward process.

Interoperability.
EastCoast is built on Open Standards with software architecture that encourages integration with additional software tools that are part of the overall building services project life-cycle.  This interoperability not only provides BIM-compliancy, but also protects your investment by providing adaptability in the future. As software suppliers enhance their tools, we can easily adapt to provide access to these new features in our software. For example, the COBie standard output was introduced in 2012, and Trimble data point export in 2010, and CAM downloads have always been provided to both Vulcan and DuctMaker.

Performance and Maturity.

Design to Fabrication software, comprised of Revit, AutoCAD MEP, and Duct CAM software, is in its 6th product release cycle, and is the preferred solution by EMCOR and hundreds of shops in North America and around the globe. EastCoast takes advantage of the strengths of each software platform to gain these speed advantages – Revit for model integrity, MEP for workhorse productivity, DuctMaker for optimal duct fabrication nesting technology, and a networked database for fastest performance and data sharing across all trades.
We performance test our software using customer data sets. We have quantifiable data that shows that from Revit MEP to the cutting table or to the pre-fab shop, Design to Fabrication delivers at an absolute minimum factor of 5 times the detailing performance over other AutoCAD detailing workflows.

Product Driven Companies.

Because of this, we can deliver on customer product requests because we have total control over our engineering planning. It is very easy for us to adapt and add new functionality to our software because we embrace Open Standards, and use a modern programming environment.
A customer who calls into us speaks with Technical Support Engineers who are integrated into our Product Development and Quality Assurance release cycles, ensuring that technical support is of the highest quality. You’re going to be getting help from Technical Experts and your input goes directly back into Software Development. Updates to our software are based on user experiences. We are very sensitive to the needs of our clients, and that’s why we have Open Forums so that we can hear from them and learn what works best in their use of the software. Our customers define our requirements.
